Dr. Binh V. Pham grew up in South Carolina and earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1999. He completed his internal-medicine residency and gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 2005. He then returned to Charleston and completed an advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship in 2006. For the next four and a half years, he was an assistant professor of medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, Calif. While there, he was an active participant in clinical research, authored numerous manuscripts and abstracts, and was course director for interventional endoscopic symposiums on both regional and national levels.

Dr. Pham joined Austin Gastroenterology in January 2011. In addition to his interests in general gastroenterology and hepatology, he also specializes in advanced pancreaticobiliary and lumenal endoscopic procedures, including cholangioscopy, electrohydraulic lithotripsy, lumenal metal stenting and small-bowel endoscopy. He is currently medical advisor to Reshape Medical in San Clemente, Calif., where he assisted in the development of an endoscopic bariatric balloon device for weight loss.
